Dottie Clagett Choate is an award winning artist who
works in watercolor, acrylics and mixed media. Her style
is versatile, ranging from realism to non-objective
abstract, with emphasis on line and color. "My
paintings have been influenced by my early memory of
stark black lines of leafless trees against a wintry
sky, white fluffy clouds in blue skies, the vivid colors
of summer flowers, and the brilliant colors of fall.
They also honed my interest in creativity as I sewed,
did needle work, gardened, and did crafts of all sorts.
Ultimately, painting won out."
Dottie has taken art classes at Dunedin Fine Art Center,
Beach Art Center, The Art Center of St Petersburg and
workshops with Sue Archer, Mary Todd Beam, Mary Ann
Beckwith, Roger Bansemer, Betty Clement, Pat Dews, Jean
Grastorf, Ted Minchen, Pat Weaver and many other Florida

Society of Acrylic Painters of Florida, Dunedin Fine Art
Center, The Museum of Fine Art in St. Petersburg, The
Art Center in St Petersburg, the Florida Watercolor
Society as well as Studio 1212 Art Gallery of
Clearwater, FL.
