Artist's Statement:
Painting in watercolors is a passion in my life. I
find the qualities of the medium are suited to capture a
wide range of colors, textures, transparency, and
opaqueness. Watercolors can produce exciting effects
when you allow them to do their own thing, such as flow
freely, forming their own patterns and color mixes. They
can be applied as a light wash for the gentleness of
nature. These techniques allow you to create the
expression of a feeling and define the purpose of
painting your subject. Recently I began mixing my
watercolors with inks and acrylics and have found this
also to be very exciting as these mediums mixed together
give me a broader palette for creativity. The natural
beauty of the world around us is my inspiration, as
nature is an unending source of subject matter. The
creative process starts the moment I am attracted to a
particular object in nature and then I am off on another
painting adventure.
"Nature is a revelation of God, art is a revelation
of man."
- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
